JPS Names Weatherlow's Replacement

The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education appointed Kevin A. Ziemba as the new director of finance and business affairs at Thursday night's special board meeting.

Ziemba will replace Dale Weatherlow, assistant superintendent for administration, who is retiring this year.

Ziemba brings 24 years of experience as a school administrator to the Jamestown Public Schools. He previously served as director of finance and administrative services for the Cheektowaga-Sloan Union Free School District where he was responsible for the leadership of the business office, purchasing, transportation system, food service operations, state and federal grant portfolio, human resource department and numerous capital improvement projects. He also served three years with Erie 1 BOCES as a shared school business administrator for both the Cheektowaga-Sloan and the Cleveland Hill Union Free School Districts.

"Mr. Ziemba's depth of experience in school finances is a perfect match with the needs of our district and will benefit our local community," said JPS Superintendent Tim O. Mains. "We are excited to have someone of his high-caliber working for the benefit of our students and the district. We welcome Mr. Ziemba to the Jamestown Public Schools family."

Ziemba received a Master of Science in education and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in school business administration from the State University of New York College at Brockport. He holds New York State Certification as a school district administrator and a school business administrator.

Ziemba is the recipient of the Western Chapter of the New York State Association of School Business Officials' 2013 Outstanding Service Award. He has been a member of the New York State Association of School Business Officials, New York State Government Finance Officers' Association, New York State Association of Municipal Purchasing Officials, along with numerous other professional organizations. Ziemba has also served on the board of directors with the Erie 1 Self-Funded Workers' Compensation Consortium and has served on the School Municipal Energy Cooperative.

"I am from Western New York and look forward to working with the Jamestown community to provide a positive academic environment that encourages students to strive for excellence," Ziemba said.
