Amanda Newham said she would have been seriously injured or died when a large hole was smashed through the window in the attack on Queen's Road, Cheetham Hill

A woman says she could have been killed after she was showered with glass when a window was smashed on a bus.

Amanda Newham, 25, was travelling home from work when yobs either threw something through the window or fired at it with a pellet gun.

The object caused a huge hole in the window and Amanda was hit by shards of glass.

She was taken to hospital but released later the same day.

Amanda, from Radcliffe, was on a Metrolink replacement bus service when the attack happened on Queen's Road at its junction with Woodlands Road in Cheetham Hill on Friday night.

The pensions administrator said: All of a sudden there was glass hitting me in the face.

I thought somebody had smashed a glass bottle on the bus but then I saw the huge hole in the window.

The impact gave me a huge knock.
