Speaking on This Morning today, the cleaning expert shared a simple hack to get stains out of the carpet. She also explained how to clean windows and leave them streak-free.

The expert said: "Get yourself some rubbing alcohol, you can pick this up quite cheaply.

"Rubbing alcohol is the best thing for ink stains. When you're treating the stain, pour the product directly onto the stain and leave it a few minutes.

"Whatever you do, don't rub because as soon as you start rubbing you're going to start wearing down those carpet fibers and you're also going to make the stain much worse."

She explained rubbing alcohol is best for removing ink stains and homeowners should use a white cloth for carpet stains so they can see if the mark is being lifted.

DON'T MISS

"Pop your rubbing alcohol onto the stain, get yourself a white cloth, place the cloth over the top and, with your hand, literally pat down or bang it a couple of times," Lynsey continued.

"As you lift the cloth up, you should start to see the stain actually come onto the cloth so you know you're actually getting the stain out."

The expert suggested using the trick a few times to ensure the stain is completely lifted.

She added: "You will probably need to repeat this a couple of times, just keep going and you will definitely get the stain out."

Lynsey shared tips on how to clean windows effectively and avoid streaks.

The expert said: "The key here is don't clean your windows if the sun is shining on them.

"[This is because] as you're using your product, the sun is going to start setting onto your glass. That's going to create smears."

Lynsey explained how simply using soap and water could help clean windows effectively.

She continued: "When cleaning your windows, always try and use an 'S' shape motion. Don't go up and down in stripes.

"Go in 'S' shapes with a really good micro cloth, the 'S' is going to stop those streaky lines that go across your glass.

"In terms of product, I'm such a big person for warm soapy water.

"[Get] a nice bowl of soapy water and do your windows with a wet microfiber cloth and then, straight away, using that 'S' shape just dry off with a dry microfiber cloth."

Lynsey added: "The biggest rule is avoid it when the sun is beating on your glass because that is 100 percent going to cause streaks, and stick to an 'S' shaped motion."
