Students in the Iowa Central Community College Dental Hygiene program are always looking for patients.

Most of the services the clinic offers are free to students and are at a reduced rate to the public.

Tessa Roberts, a second-year dental hygiene student at Iowa Central Community College, cleans Joe Wrights teeth on Tuesday. Wright, coordinator of the Criminal Justice Program, said he feels its important to support the program.

"They have to learn the skills to be a hygienist," said Renee Piper, dental hygiene coordinator. "The only way they can do that is by providing clinical skills."

In exchange for spending a little extra time to help students with their education, Piper said patients get great service.

"The patient wins because they get really comprehensive care at a reduced fee," she said.
