Urban Forestry Grant Announcement November 8 2012
Department of Conservation and Recreation Commissioner Edward Lambert announced the award of a $15000 Urban Forestry Challenge Grant to the City of Fall River. The grant amount, which must be matched by the City, will be used to hire an urban forester and an arborist in order to implement the Street Tree Management Plan. The Plan will include an intensive tree planting initiative as well as education and outreach to the City Departments. The grant will also help in getting more youth involved in becoming tree stewards and hazard tree removal. "We couldn #39;t have done it without the State help," comment Street Tree Planting coordinator Mary Ann Wordell. "And I thank DCR and Ed Lambert very, very much."
