PRINCETON A section of Route 206 between Ewing Street and Herrontown Road is scheduled to be closed for tree removal and pruning all next week.

The joint operation between Princeton and PSE&G is meant to prevent tree branches from interfering with power lines. It will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m, Monday through Friday, municipal arborist Greg ONeil said.

Over the past three years weve had multiple long-term power outages and disruptions of services along that part of 206, ONeil said.

About 28 trees will be removed, ONeil said.

The section of Route 206 that will close is one and a quarter miles long. Detours will direct both northbound and southbound traffic onto Mt. Lucas Road. Delays should be expected.

Tractor-trailer trucks will be held at both ends of the construction area and allowed to progress along Route 206 intermittently.
