It was all too much for city officials, however, who ordered the removal of the racy trimmings.

The "Tree of Pleasure"/Google ImagesIt said that the Christmas season qualifying as a holiday for children and families, requires sobriety in urban decorations, particularly when it comes to widely-used festive symbols such as trees.

The owner of the sex toy e-business, Norma Rossetti, said she complied immediately with the authorities order.

The Tree of Pleasure, she says, was part of her mission to make sex toys completely normal everyday objects.

The erotic items chosen for the tree were elegant and not X-rated, she added, while admitting that, although she received some complaints, most people were interested and enthusiastic about its design.
