WAPELLO, Iowa Repair bids for roofs and other building parts damaged during an April hailstorm were accepted by the Wapello School Board on Wednesday.

The largest bid accepted, contingent upon approval from the schools insurance carrier, was one from Triple C Roofing, Inc., Woodbine. The company bid $97,971 to repair damaged foam roofs at the elementary and secondary campuses.

The board accepted the Triple C Roofing bid after agreeing a lower bid from Pella Roofing and Insulation, Vinton, had not been submitted properly.

A $14,260 bid from Shafer Construction, Wapello, was accepted for the repair of the administration building roof. Shafer Construction also received the nod from the board to repair damaged asphalt roofing, vinyl siding and miscellaneous gutter replacement on several buildings. Its bid for the work was $19,850.

Shafter Construction also was the low bidder to repair the greenhouse roof and sidewalls. Its bid for that work was $9,270 for the roof and $14,316 for the sidewalls.

Myers Construction, Sperry, won the general lighting and HVAC equipment repairs with a bid of $44,200.

The board also accepted a $9,032 bid from Daktronics, Brookings, S.D., for a new football field scoreboard. The cost, which will be covered through a donation from the Pepsi Co., does not include installation, which officials estimated would be about $4,400.

A bid for two cameras and other surveillance equipment in the schools new weight room also was accepted by the board. J&S Electronic Business Systems, Burlington, submitted the low bid of $5,525.
