EMPORIUM Two Act 14 Notifications were received for pipeline projects that will benefit the oil and gas industry in Cameron County.

The first notice was received from Kleinfelder, an engineering firm based in Cranberry, on behalf of NFG Midstream Clermont LLC for the Clermont to Rich Valley Pipeline.

Two 16-inch diameter water lines one 16-inch gathering line and one 8-inch gathering line will be installed along a 5.6-mile stretch spanning Norwich Township in McKean County and Shippen Township in Cameron County.

According to documentation sent to the Cameron County Commissioners by Kleinfelder, the project will result in a total of 82 acres of earth disturbance and will require four wetland crossings and seven stream crossings.

The 4.2-mile stretch in Cameron County crosses a waterway known as Elk Fork, still marked on many maps as the Elk River due to its extremely long length. The Elk River is a tributary of the Driftwood Branch of the Sinnemahoning Creek and is a native trout stream of extremely high quality.

The pipeline will also cross near the headwaters of Cooks Run, which empties into the Driftwood Branch in Rich Valley.

A second notice was received from Kleinfelder concerning the EQT Lateral project in Shippen Township, southeast of Howard Siding.

Additional pipeline is being laid in the area of Hicks Run, with the identified section being a 0.9-mile stretch east of State Game Lands 14 near Whippoorwill Hollow and crossing Bigger Run. The project will see installation of 6-inch diameter natural gas pipeline and a permanent access road.

The commissioners have received word the bridge at Lick Island in southern Cameron County, near Sinnemahoning, has been scheduled and is expected to be completed by the end of June.

In other news, an inmate housing agreement was approved with Potter County to increase the rate paid for male inmates to $60 per day plus medical costs.
