The Redskins announced they have waived a pair of backups, linebacker Gabe Miller and nose tackle Robert Thomas.

Miller, a second-year player, made the initial 53-man roster after standing out on special teams and on defense. He dressed for all four regular season games but played only three defensive snaps. Miller played primarily on special teams.

Thomas, an undrafted rookie, made the practice squad at the start of the season and had just gotten promoted to the 53-man roster on Thursday, but was inactive for that game.

The Redskins didnt immediately make corresponding roster moves, but a person with knowledge of the situation said the team is looking to make additions that will help upgrade the special teams units.
