'Broadchurch' will feature some new faces when it returns to our screens later this year after ITV announced their would be some new additions to the cast for the second series of the hit drama.

James DArcy, who is best known for his roles in 'Cloud Atlas' and 'Hitchcock' will play a 'key role' in the new series, according to the drama's executive producer, Jane Featherstone.

And acclaimed Academy Award, Bafta and Golden Globe-nominated actress Marianne Jean-Baptiste, who has starred in 'Without A Trace' and 'Private Practice', will also be joining the cast in a leading role.

David Tennant and Olivia Colman - who won the Best Actress award at last week's TV Baftas for her portrayal of DS Ellie Miller - will both be reprising their roles for the second series.

Speaking about James D'Arcy joining the cast, Executive Producer Jane Featherstone said: James' extraordinary recent work in movies such as Cloud Atlas and opposite Anthony Hopkins in Hitchcock makes him another thrilling and important addition to the Broadchurch cast.

It's never easy to tempt actors back from Hollywood, and we feel privileged that James is joining us as a key part of our new story."

Meanwhile, 'Broadchurch creator and writer Chris Chibnall was equally excited about signing up Marianne, saying: "We're over the moon to have wooed Marianne back from Los Angeles to join us in Broadchurch.

Marianne is one of Britain's finest actresses, so it's an honour and a coup for us. Its a role written specifically for her and I would've wept for months if she'd turned us down. Luckily she didn't and her character is going to make an indelible impact on the world of Broadchurch."
