LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington man had to find another place to stay Friday night after a fire broke out in an addition to his home.

Firefighters were called to the home on Easthills Drive around 10:30 Friday evening. The homeowner told fire officials that he was downstairs originally and had gone upstairs to get something when he noticed the smoke and flames coming from his sun-room addition.

When crews arrived on the scene flames and smoke were visible from the home, and they were able to get the fire out fairly quickly. The fire did a large amount of damage to the addition on the home and the kitchen and dining room also sustained minor damage. Fire officials say they had to cut power to the home because they were unsure of the source of the fire.

According to fire officials there were no working smoke detectors in the home.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation but officials say they do not believe it is suspicious.
