MORRISTOWN (WATE) - The Morristown Police Department is warning residents about a scam in which elderly residents are being solicited for roofing and driveway sealing jobs who have not asked to have any repairs made.

Police say two men in their mid 30s or 40s are contacting elderly people at their homes, demanding cash in advance of doing the job. Once they have the cash in hand, they leave without doing any work. They may also threaten the victims not to tell anyone about the scam.

The suspects may be driving an older model gray truck.

Police say remember to only contact reputable contractors for needed repair and do not consider having work done just because someone knocks on the door.

If you think you have been the victim of a scam, call the Morristown Police Department at (423) 585-2701.
