Histon's scholars finally have a new classroom to move into thanks to the generosity of local businesses who stepped in when the previous building was removed at short notice.

The scholars were left without a dedicated study area at the Glass World Stadium when former chairman Tony Roach sold the building they were using at the time for classes.

With the classroom removed, the scholars had to cram into the media suite underneath the Steve Fallon stand, where they have spent the past three months.

But thanks to support from within the community, a replacement building has been erected and furnished, providing the youngsters with a purpose-built facility for their studies.

Cambridge Felt Roofing and owner Del Moyes have been the main driving force behing the project, with Cambridge Flooring Services, Cambridge Scaffolding, Sean White of Cambridge-based W & P Blinds, and the Cambridge branch of Magnet, also helping complete the work.

"I want to thank everyone involved in making this happen," said Histon's scholarship lead co-ordinator and first team manager Brian Page.

"There's been a lot of time and effort put into getting the new building up and running, and the boys should be in there after Easter. That will be fantastic."

Page said the scholars had continued to work well while in the media suite, and that the disruption had not affected their work, but the new facility will certainly make life a lot easier.

"The lads have been doing their college work in the media suite, and that's okay," he continued.
