The Longview School District is soliciting bids for re-roofing Mount Solo Middle School. The school board on Jan. 14 approved a district maintenance budget that included replacing the roof after hearing a report that the metal roof has leaked since the school opened in 2003.

The district estimates the base bid cost range at between $275,000 and $300,000. The project entails the removal of the standing seam metal roof and replacing it with a single-ply membrane roof.

Bids must be submitted before 4 p.m. March 26 to the districts maintenance offices, 2080 38th Ave., Longview. Public bids will commence at about 4:03 p.m. that date at the same location.

A pre-proposal walk-through will be held at 3:30 p.m. March 19, beginning in the school cafeteria, 5300 Mount Solo Road, Longview.

Contractors may obtains plans and specifications from the districts maintenance offices (38th Ave. address) for a $50 deposit. Checks should be made payable to the Longview School District. Plans must be returned in good condition within 10 days after the bid date to obtain a refund of the deposit.

Plans and specifications may also be seen at the Lower Columbia Contractors Assocation in Longview, Southwest Washington Contractors Association in Vancouver, Daily Journal of Commerce Plan Center in Portland and Builder Exchange of Washington in Everett.
