Individual donors, businesses contributed $3.4 million to assist capital improvements

ENID, Okla. In February 2010, the public voted to approve a $99 million bond issue for renovation and construction of new schools in Enid.

In addition, nine businesses and individuals contributed $3.4 million to assist with the capital improvements, the states largest private contribution to a kindergarten-12th-grade school system.

Donors included Continental Resources, $1.5 million; Advance Food Company, $1 million; Groendyke Transport, $250,000; Atwoods, $200,000; Lew and Myra Ward, $125,000; Security National Bank, $100,000; the Dillingham family, $100,000; Parrish Enterprises Ltd., $100,000; and Northcutt Auto Group, $25,000.

Improvements originally planned were:

Adams Elementary new cafeteria, sidewalks, brick repair, woodwork, stage curtains, water fountains, fire alarm, electrical upgrade, heat and air improvements, downspouts and painting.

Coolidge Elementary connecting hallway, restrooms, enclose corridor, roofing, painting, blinds, ceilings, flooring, fire alarm, hardware and doors, lighting, heat and air improvements, sidewalks, stage curtains, electrical upgrades.

Eisenhower Elementary flooring, paint gym, exterior doors to gym, toilet fixtures in early childhood and gym, stage curtains, classroom locks, heat and air improvements, electrical upgrade, drainage work.

Garfield Elementary replace with new 74,000-square-foot school.

Glenwood Elementary restrooms, Americans with Disability Act needs, ceilings, flooring, painting, Red Schoolhouse repairs, repave parking and play areas, sidewalk upgrades, drainage work, classroom storage, exterior doors and hardware, windows, lighting, electrical upgrade, fire alarm, stage curtains, heat and air improvements.

Hayes Elementary ceiling tiles, moisture protection, doors and hardware, flooring, painting, classroom sinks and countertops, lighting, exterior doors, blinds, windows, resurface play area, electrical upgrade, heat and air improvements, stage curtains.
