GILES CO., Va. -

Workers will start repairs on a failed retaining wall on Route 460 in Giles County on Friday.

Repairing the 180-foot wall is expected to take up to 10 days.

The retaining wall is located along westbound Route 460 in the area known as The Bluffs between Narrows and Rich Creek, about four miles south of the West Virginia state line.

Crews will be working from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, including on weekends, to make the repairs. During these work hours, Route 460 traffic between Route 61 and Route 643 (Stateline Road) will be reduced to one lane in each direction.

Flaggers and pilot trucks will be used to route two-way traffic into the eastbound lanes of Route 460.

Since the wall collapsed on Sunday, Route 460 traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction. The left eastbound and left westbound lanes of Route 460 are currently closed.

The repair work will involve stabilizing the rock slope behind the collapsed wall and replacing the walls fallen or cracked concrete.

Drivers should expect delays on that road.
