At about 9:20 p.m., CHP officers were dispatched to a report of a collision between a school bus and a sedan on Highway 29, causing both vehicles to strike a retaining wall lining the westbound Highway 37 onramp.

Witnesses told officers that the driver of the Acura was traveling northbound on Highway 29 and ran a red light, before hitting the Michael's Transportation bus, which was making a left turn from Highway 37 off-ramp.

The collision then forced both vehicles to drive into the retaining wall, officers said. The bus was not carrying any passengers at the time of the accident.

The bus driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Firefighters has to extricate the Acura driver, who was trapped inside his car. He momentarily lost consciousness, and was transported to an area trauma center as precaution, CHP officers said.

The accident was under investigation, and no one was cited at the scene.
