WAYNE An 81-year-old woman crashed her car over a retaining wall on the property of the Hinchman Concrete Co. on Saturday, one day after her family reported her missing and state police issued a silver alert, Capt. Laurence Martin said in a press release.

Mary Gwenn was reported missing by her daughter at about 10:30 p.m. on Friday after she left her residence that afternoon without a cellphone and failed to return, police said.

An employee of the concrete company discovered Gwenn's 2005 Buick LeSabre suspended between the four-foot-high retaining wall and the ground at about 1:10 p.m. Saturday, police said. Gwenn, who police said suffers from medical issues, was inside the vehicle, exposed to the cold and in life-threatening condition.

Gwenn was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, according to the news release. Wayne police continue to investigate the incident and ask any witnesses to contact the Traffic Bureau at 973-633-3520.
