EVANSVILLE An Evansville man was arrested late Friday night after he wrecked his pickup truck on the city's West Side, according to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Office.

Lt. Jana Wade said John P. Marsh, 32, had a blood alcohol level of .25, more than triple the legal limit, when he lost control of his 1999 Ford F-150 near the 4600 block of Hogue Road at around 11:30 p.m. Marsh struck a retaining wall, several mailboxes, and a utility pole before his vehicle rolled to its side near a tree, Wade said.

Sgt. Jim Boyd said Marsh lost control of the truck while attempting to correct a turn after he veered from the driving lane. The accident is under investigation, Boyd said.

No passengers were in the vehicle. Marsh suffered serious lacerations to the forehead and was admitted to Deaconess Hospital, where deputies soon discovered the extent of Marsh's drunkenness.

The Vanderburgh County Prosecutor's Office will file charges at a later date. Charges include operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (OMVWI), OMVWI with a blood alcohol level of .15 or more, and refusal to submit to chemical test.
