DEADWOOD A Deadwood woman died Saturday evening when the golf cart she was a passenger in rolled off a retaining wall and pinned her underneath.

At approximately 6 p.m. Deadwood Police officers responded to Cliff Street for a report of the accident.

Deadwood Police Chief Kelly Fuller said the golf cart, driven by Greg Vecchi, 50, of Deadwood, dropped off a 10-foot high retaining wall. It rolled at the bottom and trapped him and his wife Monica Beer, 54. Vecchi was able to free himself and seek help. Beer died at the scene. Vecchi suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The Deadwood Police Department continues to investigate the accident.
