Fans of Stephanies sophisticated comfort food can get it on the fly when the latest location of the Boston restaurant chain opens at Logan International Airport.

Stephanies will open in the Terminal B connector in April after completion of Massports $120 million construction project.

The 120-seat restaurant with full bar will be operated under a licensing agreement by San Mateo, Calif.-based Tastes on the Fly, which specializes in bringing outposts of local dining establishments to airports.

(Stephanies) is an iconic Boston restaurant, and I think its because its noted by both visitors and locals, said Michael Levine, Tastes on the Flys cofounder and CEO. Thats the cool thing about her being both in the neighborhoods and on a visitor-(frequented), fashionable street.

Stephanie Sokolove opened Stephanies on Newbury in 1994 and expanded with Stephis on Tremont in the South End in 2009 and Stephis in Southie last year.

The company has always been interested in an airport location, but found that operating in such an environment might be challenging, according to CEO Leo Fonseca.

With the changes in security and how early people have to get to the airport now we thought it was a good opportunity to bring comfort food (to Logan), he said. And ... we were so excited about the response that we got from Stephanies in South Boston, we thought it was another opportunity for us to capitalize on that momentum.

Tastes on the Fly also operates Dine Boston, Jerry Remys Sports Bar & Grill and two Boston Beer Works locations at Logan.
