Marcellus remodeling business receives national recognition

By Jason Gabak

When Scott began McClurg Remodeling and Construction Services in 1978, he was also serving as a member of the Syracuse Fire Department.

Scott was a firefighter, Brian Ciota, vice president and co-owner of the company, said. He started it as a small business but it quickly became more of a full time business.

By 1984 the business became incorporated and Jerry Pitt joined the company becoming vice president.

The business continued to grow over the years.

Ciota said in the mid 1980s the business relocated its headquarters to its present location on East Main Street in Marcellus.

At first it was just two small offices, Ciota said. Now we use 7,500 square feet. We have our warehouse on Lee Mulroy Road and we employ 34 full time employees.

But through all this growth, McClurg as a business has not lost sight of what has helped it to grow and be successful all these years.

Ciota said McClurg takes on a bit of everything.
