Hillwood offers spacious homes for families who want to spread out as well as patio designs for empty nesters fond of living in Midtown Montgomery.

The neighborhood stretches from Zelda Road in the west to near Perry Hill Road in the east. Hillwood homes line Vaughn Road and lots back up to Interstate 85 in the north.

Dozens of family homes rest on larger lots, many with mature shade-providing trees. Near Zelda Road, patio homes provide retirees and empty nesters with low-maintenance living in the middle of all that Midtown has to offer.

Hillwood is centrally located with Interstate access quickly at Perry Hill and Zelda Road, Realtor Ryan Beesley said. The Zelda Road shopping and dining corridor is minutes away by car, and really within walking distance. Vaughn Road Park is minutes away. Hillwood has large lots and mature trees.

Hillwood features custom-built homes, constructed from as early as 1964, Beesley said. A Hillwood address is also close to shopping in Old Cloverdale. The popularity of the location has led many homeowners to remodel houses.

Hillwood is a good mixture of single and two-story homes, he said. Hillwood is a very settled neighborhood. And as the name implies, lots of mature trees and lots of neighbors out walking. It is a very friendly neighborhood of well-maintained homes. Lots of older homes have been remodeled to current taste and style, especially in the kitchens and bathrooms.

One home is for sale on Croom Drive for $299,900, and includes four bedrooms and two bathrooms within 3,553 square feet of living space. The home was built in 1963 but was remodeled in 2012. The home is the best price per foot in the neighborhood, Beesley said. The remodeling provided stunning updates and appeal. The rooms are large.

The renovation resulted in a gourmet kitchen, four large bedrooms, including two master suites, and the other two bedrooms share a Jack-n-Jill bath. A fireplace, covered outdoor living area, garage and parking pad add to the appeal of the home.

The design also includes a half bath off the laundry room as well as another half bath near the den. The remodeling including many upgrades, Beesley said.

Many people have lived in Hillwood for generations, Beesley said. And lots of younger professionals have moved in as well. The neighborhood has lots of character and charm.
