KANSAS CITY, Mo. Bullets barely missed a young dad remodeling a house on Kansas Citys east side. The close call happened Wednesday night near Elmwood and East 20th. The lucky survivor said a ski-mask-wearing, armed robber attacked him while he was at work. Jose Prieto said he got out of his truck and walked towards a house he was remodeling, when he says the armed robber caught him off-guard.

Its only like one minute, you know, this happened so quick, Prieto told FOX 4s Robert Townsend.

The clock was nearing midnight when Prieto and a buddy were still remodeling a small house that belongs to Prietos wife when a stranger suddenly emerged.

I walk back in the home, inside the house, and I feel somebody behind me, Prieto said.

He then attempted to run outside to grab some lights from his truck.

Try to hurry up and close the door, but its too late. They come inside and start attacking me, Prieto said.

The intruder was wearing a ski mask and snuck up behind him after forcing his way into the home.

They didnt give me no chance to fight, they just punched, he said.

The pummeling continued as he was punched in his face and kicked on his right side.

Im down on the floor and they just keep kicking. It was scary, he said.
