A man and a woman have been arrested for allegedly stealing packages from the porches of the homes of Ramsey residents, authorities said Saturday.

The man was arrested for the same crime in Paramus earlier this month, police from both communities said.

Alex Beltransarcay, 32, and Glennys Cuevaslorenzo, 27, both of Newark, were arrested Friday after plainclothes Paramus officers Detective Glen Pagano and Officer Paul Siemon saw the couple traveling southbound on Route 17 shortly after hearing a dispatch from Ramsey police at 5:12 p.m. to be on the lookout for a 2004 BMW X5.

The officers stopped the BMW near the Garden State Parkway and noticed numerous packages in the passenger compartment of the car that had been taken from several Ramsey homes, police said.

Both Beltransarcay and Cuevaslorenzo were charged with possession of stolen property and transported to the Bergen County Jail. Beltransarcay was placed on a $25,000 bail; Cuevaslorenzos bail was set at $10,000.

Beltransarcay was arrested by Paramus police on Dec. 1 on similar charges and had been released on a $5,000 bail.
