LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) A serial arsonist is accused of targeting dozens of doorsteps across Louisville.

The latest fires happen March 20 along Weather Way and Silver Springs Drive around 1 a.m. where investigators say the door wreaths were intentionally set on fire.

A charred front door is an all too familiar sight for neighbors in Hikes Point.

"Typically they are spaced anywhere from 10 to 30 days apart," said Major Henry Ott with Louisville Metro Arson.

Since December of 2012 arson investigators have been trying to catch the person responsible for now setting a total of 40 fires on people's front porches.

"We've had descriptions of females, we've had possible descriptions of males, but at this point we are not eliminating anything," said Ott.

It's happening between Six Mile Lane and Hikes Lane and Taylorsville Road and Hurtsbourne Parkway.

Helen Klapheke walked to check out the damage to her neighbor's house on Weather Way.

"It's much worse than what we had in our home," said Klapheke.
