Roof collapses keep crews busy throughout Lehigh Valley

Tuesday was a busy day for crews responding to collapses across the Lehigh Valley.

The porches of some homes on Seneca Street in Fountain Hill were no match for the heavy mounds of snow on top of them.

"This is our second call today that my department was on," said David Boehrer, the assistant fire chief. "We ended up sticking the cameras through to make sure that there was nobody trapped underneath."

Nobody was injured.

Crews cleaned up the area and even took down another roof that was unstable.

"If you can get access, try to push the snow off cause we're getting rain tomorrow and it's going to even be worse," said Boehrer.

In Salisbury Township, the center of a roof gave way at Miller Brothers Garage on East Emaus Avenue.

Employees heard the roof buckle and everyone made it out safely.

Crews also responded to the 300 block of East Walnut Street in Allentown after a porch roof collapsed and fell on a gas meter. Nobody was injured.

And in the 900 block of Armour street in Allentown, a house's rear porch roof collapsed.
