"This was the first photo I took that started the series. It was my first spring in Portland, and I was amazed at the vibrant green and growth everywhere. This porch is just off of North Williams Avenue in Northeast Portland, and the branches form a doorway to the rainbow steps." TeresaChristiansen

"This porch, for me, is a standard example of what many front yards, gardens and porches in Portland look like. Abundant forms of greens grow easily, and many homeowners take pride in their gardens." TeresaChristiansen

"This three-story, Queen Anne-style house first caught my attention on one of my marathon training runs last summer up North Willamette Boulevard near the University of Portland. A former home of [musician] John Mock, it was destroyed by fire in 1889 and rebuilt in 1891 as the huge mansion it is now. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The current owner is planning a restoration of the home, which should take place in the next few years." TeresaChristiansen

"The porch on this house no longer exists. On a walk past the house on Northeast Ainsworth Street this week, I noticed that the camellia bush had been chopped down and the porch roof had been ripped off. Camellias are one of the first flowers that emerge in Portland a sign of spring that I never saw on the East Coast. The contrast of the vibrant flowers with the peeling paint drew me to take this image." TeresaChristiansen
