LIVERMORE -- Two suspects were arrested Wednesday after police received calls about thieves taking packages from porches in the Lexington/Trinity Hills area of Livermore, officials said Thursday.

The calls started coming in about 10 a.m., but officers were unable to find any suspects at first. Later in the day, however, another call came from Marina Road about two people hiding in the bushes.

Officers recognized one of the suspects from video surveillance of one of the package thefts.

Christina Rodriguez, 27, and Jose Ruiz, 31, were arrested for prowling and the suspects' car was found parked nearby, full of stolen mail and packages from Orinda, Lafayette, Brentwood, Pleasanton, and Livermore, according to police.

Both suspects claimed to be transient from San Francisco and were booked at Santa Rita Jail on a variety of charges.
