EXETER Even before their shovels are in the ground to construct the YMCA facility in Exeter, Jewett Construction has carpenters at work for Southern District YMCA. Donating their skilled labor at YMCA Camp Lincoln, the day-camp operated by Southern District YMCA on the shores of Kingston Lake, Jewett Construction is making a difference.

When YMCA Camp Lincoln opens this June, it will show off renovated porches, rebuilt access ramps, and final touches on the recently renovated Lodge. With 1,600 campers headed to Camp Lincoln this summer, they will experience the safe, solid construction of the roofs overhead and the easy access to their culinary class.

Jeff Gleason, director of camping, YMCA Camp Lincoln, noted, "the generosity and availability of Jewett volunteers is allowing us to complete projects that are important but have not been a focus due to our time and resources. The access ramp at the Dining Hall will allow people with mobility issues to more safely enter the building, and renovated porches will allow a greater opportunity for campers to build relationships."

Jewett Construction's carpenters, Dave Martel, Tim Holt, Jim McCullough and Carlos Rosario, had a pleasant Spring week to enjoy the natural beauty of YMCA Camp Lincoln and the rewards of contributing so much to the nonprofit. These volunteers have collectively worked with Jewett Construction for more than 45 years; their commitment to our community and Southern District YMCA is greatly appreciated.

"I love being outdoors in this environment," said Carlos Rosario. "It feels good to do anything that will help the kids. I know that Camp Lincoln made a positive impression on my oldest two (children) when they attended Camp Lincoln."
