A TRAINEE plumber smashed the window of his ex-girlfriend's salon in a fit of rage over 50,000 he had lent her, a court heard.

Daniel Brett had given money he inherited when his mother died to Rebecca Place so she could open a new branch of Pure Escapism at Westwood Cross, it was said.

After they broke up he took her to court to reclaim the money but she declared bankruptcy and did not pay.

Canterbury Magistrates Court heard on Friday how Brett, 37, left a trail of blood after punching the window of the salon in Mortimer Street at 3am on February 7.
