The police on Wednesday arraigned a plumber, Oluwole Ajayi, 48, in an Akure Magistrates Court for conspiracy, stealing, unlawful possession and impersonation.

The Prosecutor, ASP Isah Atanegbe, told the court that the accused and others at large committed the offences in December 2013 at Iro Street, Akure.

He alleged that the accused conspired and stole N41,000 cash belonging to one Ayodeji Ogunyemi.

The prosecutor also said the accused impersonated a soldier by wearing army camouflage knickers with a face cap.

He said the offences contravened sections 516, 390(9), 109(a) and 439 of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The prosecutor applied for a short adjournment to enable him assemble his three witnesses in court.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the four-count charge.

The defence counsel, Fidelis Oriaifo, did not object to the application for adjournment by the prosecutor, but asked for bail for his client.

The magistrate, Mr Akin Akintoye, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 and two sureties in like sum.

He said the sureties should be credible and have recognised business outfits in the magisterial district.
