MOON, Pa.

A Kennedy Township man accused of stealing items from homes he worked at as a plumber has turned himself in and is awaiting a preliminary hearing.

According to police, charges against Matthew Seretti, 30, of McKees Rocks, were filed in April. Seretti is accused of stealing jewelry from homes where he was working.

Investigators said some of the stolen items were recovered by police at American Coin Exchange in Coraopolis, and Seretti agreed to return the items he had not already sold.

Police said there was about $15,000 worth of jewelry stolen from the homes.

The young man excused himself, said where's the bathroom, or whatever, and suddenly people would have thousands worth of jewelry stolen, said Moon Police Chief Leo McCarthy.

Seretti is facing felony and misdemeanor charges of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, authorities said. He faces a preliminary hearing on June 4.
