It has been reported in HVP that the survey was filled out by those responsible for gas safety in housing associations across the UK. Carbon monoxide poisoning was a large feature of the study, with the 106 participants asked questions about the deadly substance. 88% claimed to have processes in place to deal with the occurrence of CO. 42% revealed they had not had to deal with any incidents of CO poisoning in the past 12 year. However, whilst the majority of respondents do have a system in place for installing CO alarms, a concerning 38% do not.

It was also revealed that a third of repairs and maintenance work is carried out by an internal workforce, compared with the two thirds that use an external force. The same is true for safety and service checks as well as installation work.
