Now obviously we hope that most plumbers aren't out to scam you, but you know that there might be some that are.

How do you separate the good apples from the bad? Well, here are some things to look for.

Start with two things you can easily find online:

"You want to make sure they're licensed and insured, first of all. You want to make sure that they work for a reputable company."

Next, have the plumber see a complicated job in person before giving you that quote. And beware of higher prices in more in affluent neighborhoods.

Read online reviews and always get at least three estimates.

Be aware of bait and switch. You know what that is - you're sold something high-end and you're delivered something cheaper.

So make sure you're recording these makes and of everything that you're buying and then make sure that you're getting exactly what you paid for.
