Two Lake Charles men were indicted Thursday on an attempted first-degree murder charge in connection with a December shooting.

Damien Jermaine Royster and Thomas Demond Plumber, both 22, were arrested by city police four days after a Dec. 18 shooting at a North Franklin Street home.

At the time of their arrest, Deputy Chief Mark Kraus said Royster, Plumber and an unidentified third suspect attempted to rob a man at the home.

"The victim, who suffered several gunshot wounds, said he was home alone when three subjects knocked at his back door," Kraus said. "Once he opened the door, the three males pushed their way in and began to batter him in an attempt to rob him. The victim said he was able to fight them off when two of the suspects fled while one suspect shot several rounds at him while exiting."
