A rat was seen in the beer garden

A PEST control company has been called in to eradicate rats from a pub.

JD Wetherspoon, which runs the Green Dragon in St Edward Street, Leek, confirmed there had been an ongoing issue with rodents at the venue.

A spokesman said: "Rentokil has installed traps and brushes are now attached to the doors to help prevent rats from entering the building.

"The Green Dragon continues to be aware of the situation and closely monitors it, dealing with it accordingly. The pub is kept clean at all times and clear from rubbish."

Mum-of-three Sam Brough, aged 42, was drinking at the pub last Saturday when she spotted a rat running across the walled rockery in the beer garden.

She said: "I'm glad the company is doing all it can to remedy the ongoing problem."
