MALAYSIAS multi award winner pest control brand, Ridpest Sdn Bhd, achieved another milestone by winning the SME Brand Excellence Award presented by SMI Association of Malaysia.

We have come a long way to be where we are today. Building a strong brand name is not an overnight thing and it definitely takes more than just advertising and promotion investment said Ridpest founder and chief executive officer Stephen Liu.

Founded in 1985, Ridpest started as a small local pest control operator.

Determined to break into the industry dominated by a large multinational operator, Liu invested heavily on improving business processes and spearheaded the industrys first IT solution specialty crafted for the pest management business in 2005.

The Ridpest IT system significantly improved our efficiency and we received very encouraging feedback from our clients, many of whom thought we were a multinational company, said Liu.

We further impressed our clients when we deployed electronic handheld devices to replace paper documents, he added.

In 2008 Ridpest was awarded Service Excellence Award and subsequently in 2011 won the ICT Adoption Award from SMI Association of Malaysia.

The best way to build a good brand name is to providing remarkable customer experience. This begins within the company and it has to be genuine.

Everyone in the company has a role to play in making this a success. It is a keep-doing-better culture within the organisation that forms the DNA of the company and the brand.

This culture encompasses a wide spectrum of the business including service excellence, innovation, talent management and many more, Liu said.
