With the holidays quickly approaching, Alterra Pest Control proudly hosted a benefit concert and dance party for the United Nations Foundation, Nothing but Nets, at their corporate warehouse, in an effort to raise money and awareness for the campaign that ships insecticide-treated bed nets to underdeveloped countries, to thwart the spread of malaria.

Alterra is a pest control company with offices nationwide, including a flagship office in the Los Angeles area. Just as they take great pride in being environmentally responsible within their pest control practices, Alterra also strives to excel within their social responsibilities.

There are many needs both domestically and internationally, says David Royce, the CEO of Alterra. Charity is a big part of our company culture so we chose to rally our event around the Nothing but Nets campaign because we knew it would be a fun way to increase awareness [of the issue] amongst college students.

In all, a crowd of 2,000 people, comprised mostly of college students, convened for this high-energy affair and although the heart of the event was philanthropic, attendees were the ones that got spoiled. Complete with a surprise acoustic performance by Tyler Glenn of Neon Trees and a load of free goods from event sponsors such as Skull Candy, People Water, Monster Energy Drink, Milo Sport, Cassette Eyewear, Kisstixx, and Sammys Caf, this was a party that made it easy to be charitable.

Noting that the event was a complete success, Royce and his company are nowhere near the end of their charitable acts for the year. Not only will Alterra dedicate a portion of all annual company profits to the Nothing but Nets campaign, but Alterra Pest employees will also be joining forces with Jennie Dudley at Eagle Ministries to feed the homeless in downtown Salt Lake City throughout the month of December.
