JEALOUS Adam Leigh struck a man with a baseball bat he believed was having a relationship with his wife.

The 31-year-old dad smashed his way into wifes home through the patio doors, before attacking his victim and then assaulting a police officer who arrived at the scene.

Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard how Leigh had split up with his wife five months earlier and wanted a reconciliation, but she was not interested.

He wrongly wrongly suspected she had formed a sexual relationship with another man and sent a number of texts warning the other man off.

Matters came to a head on April 25 when Leigh went to his wifes house at midnight.

She refused to let him in but when he realised the other man was inside, he completely lost control.

After entering the home using a baseball bat he grabbed from behind the shed, he then swung the bat at the man.

The first blow struck him on his elbow, shattering it and leaving him needing an operation.

The second connected with the left side of the mans neck leaving it swollen.
