GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Crews are scheduled to remove mold from several areas of Greensboro Urban Ministry's (GUM) Pathways Center.

On Monday, a GUM spokesperson said they have consulted with mold experts about the situation and they believe it is safe for residents, volunteers and staff to be in the building while the mold is removed and repairs are made.

GUM is working with professional mold removal and remediation companies to properly address this problem. While work is being done, parts of the building will be closed. GUM expects the work to begin next week in three resident rooms, the laundry room and the furnace room.

During the removal and repair process, GUM said every effort will be made to keep the disruptions to a minimum. Also, guests can expect the laundry room to be closed for several days and the heat in some rooms will be turned off when work is being done in the furnace rooms.
