BELFAIR When Bob Richards first placed the popular Bobaloos Bar & Grill up for sale more than two years ago, Gwen Casey thought shed have to find another job.

Casey had worked at the Belfair restaurant for eight years, as a bartender and then assistant manager. But she knew enough about the restaurant business to know that when a new owner comes to town, that owner usually wants a fresh start, letting go of all the staff and starting anew, Casey said.

Casey expressed her frustration and disappointment to her husband, Frank Casey. So, he asked his wife whether they should buy the restaurant.

At first, I said no, Gwen Casey recalled. I had no experience running a business. But then a couple days later, we called Bob and told him we were interested. He was very excited. He worked with us because I know he wanted to make sure that what he built was carried on.
