If one extra sink hole is available, the easiest add-on is a built-in soap dispenser to reduce soap-bottle clutter on your kitchen counters. If another hole is available, a piping-hot-water dispenser can serve instant hot water for things like coffee, tea and oatmeal.

Q: Were doing some remodeling in our kitchen. Since my kitchen sink is an undermount style, we will not be changing out the sink.

But I would like to add some features, including a new faucet. Can you give me a few other ideas on how I can jazz up my old kitchen sink?

A: If you choose the right style of faucet, you should be able to utilize the extra holes on your kitchen sink to add new accessories.

If one extra sink hole is available, the easiest add-on is a built-in soap dispenser to reduce soap-bottle clutter on your kitchen counters. If another hole is available, a piping-hot-water dispenser can serve instant hot water for things like coffee, tea and oatmeal.

A hot-water dispenser requires a water line, but you can usually tap into the system thats already under the sink.

Speaking of plumbing under the sink, another great option is to install a remote cable-controlled sink-drain strainer.

This allows you to avoid reaching into dirty water and under pots and pans to drain your sink. A push of the deck-mounted cable button automatically opens the sink drain.
