JACKSON Celia Barrett Design, a boutique hospitality interior design firm based in Jackson with a satellite office in Manhattan, New York, has changed its name to Barrett Design Studio.

I wanted our name to reflect the different directionthat we have taken in the last five years, said Celia Barrett, principal designer of Barrett Design Studio. We are 75 percent hospitality design now. We design hotels and restaurants around the country. Barrett Design Studio helps us reach that next level. My design staff is growing also and the new name reflects that growth. Yet, it still allows us to continue our residential work, which I love.

Celia Barrett has more than 30 years in interior design. She was a senior project designer for several leading New York City architectural firms as well as a senior store designer for Macys Corporate Store Design prior to founding her own design firm in New York City.

Barrett holds a bachelors degree in interior design from the Auburn University College of Architecture. She continued her studies at Auburn and Parsons School of Design in New York City in both set design and antiques. She has served as an adjunct professor of interior design in the department of Fine Arts at Mississippi College.

A recipient of the Mississippi Business Journals 50 Leading Business Women, she is certified by the National Council on Interior Design Qualification, is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), the International Interior Design Association and is a Mississippi certified interior designer. Barrett has served as chair of the ASID Mississippi District and is a member of the Better Business Bureau, the Chamber of Commerce and the U.S. Green Building Council.
