Go beyond the basic bathroom

These days with more of us spending a lot more time at home, homeowners are opting to give their homes a makeover. Home offices are being revamped or created, and people are also updating their outdoor spaces. New flooring and kitchen countertops are often at the top of the list when it comes to giving a house a new look. But don't forget the bathroom. Bathrooms, half or full, provide opportunities for creative renovations.

Bathrooms don't have to be boring. Why not apply many of the decorating trends used in other rooms of the house to the bathroom.

San Antonio interior designer Lee Ann Kramer said wallpaper is coming back in a big way. Imagine wallpaper in a variety of wild patterns, metallic or grass cloth. Kramer said natural elements and black are also trending, but so are colors such as green, mustard, and ocher. And she said velvets in all colors are very popular too.

So, whether you hire a contractor or do it yourself, why not add a little pizzazz to your powder room or make the master bathroom unique. Here are a few examples of homes that are now or were recently on the market in San Antonio and surrounding areas that have done just that.
