Interior decorator Debby Francis goes to Adkins Lighting Center regularly because of the wide variety of lighting the store offers.

Ive never had any type of lighting challenge that they couldnt help me with, she said about the residential lighting retailer and supplier on Midlothian Turnpike in Chesterfield County.

They have anything from under-cabinet lights to lamps and everything in between, Francis said. If its something thats trending, you will always find it there. You dont have to look anywhere else.

Adkins Lighting Centers clients include designers and builders as well as customers building houses and retail customers who are upgrading their lighting.

We carry thousands of fixtures and lamps, said co-owner Debbie Edwards, adding that the company also sells mirrors, decorative accessories and ceiling fans.

Sixty percent of Adkins Lightings sales are from retail customers. The remaining 40 percent is from selling items to builders for new-home construction.

Charlotte Via, the selections coordinator for Bel Arbor Builders in Chesterfield, has her clients work with Edwards to simplify the process of choosing lighting fixtures.

She has all the homeowners information and floor plans and that makes the process less intimidating, Via said. She will go out and walk the house with them and help them understand where the lighting fixtures will go as well as the correct height and dimensions. She gives them individualized attention.

Edwards and her husband, Mark, are part of the team outfitting a home in Chesterfields Hallsley subdivision that will serve as the 2014 Richmond Symphony Designer House.

We are working with Bel Arbor Builders, which is building the house for a client, Debbie Edwards said. We are providing some of the lighting for the designer house as well as all of the lighting for Bel Arbors client.
