NORWALK, Conn. Catherine Gutkowski of Norwalk died Nov. 16 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 83.

Gutkowski was born in Soldier, Pa., to John and Catherine Ryder Spuck. She lived in Norwalk for the past 56 years. She worked as an interior decorator and was the owner of the former Customs House.

She previously worked for the FBI as a fingerprint expert in Washington, D.C., where she met her husband. She also worked locally for Sperry Semiconductor and Snelling & Snelling. A longtime member of St. Mary Church, she enjoyed decorating and needlework.

Gutkowski is survived by her husband of 62 years, Edward Gutkowski; three children, Sandi (Stephen) Bodnar of Newtown, Conn., Eddie Gutkowski of Norwalk, and Susan Ryder of Boulder, Colo.; two sisters, Olga DeLuca of Pennsylvania and Julie Cicarelli of Stamford; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday at St. Mary Church in Norwalk. Magner Funeral Home in Norwalk handled arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary Church Restoration Fund, 669 West Ave., Norwalk, CT 06850.
