Police have urged residents to step up their home security after the city was hit by six burglaries in less than 24 hours.

The burglaries took place all over the city, with two in Boulder, two in Kalgoorlie, one in South Kalgoorlie and one in Williamstown.

A significant amount of jewellery was stolen from one house.

Police are yet to make any arrests in relation to the incidents, though CCTV footage is being reviewed and crime analysts are looking to identify any possible trends.

Three of the burglaries reported involved residents leaving their houses unlocked, a factor which has Kalgoorlie police concerned as the warm weather approaches.

The incidents of theft also involved property including wallets, purses and a laptop being stolen from unlocked cars.

Police believe one of the burglaries may have occurred while the owner was inside the house.

With a rise in crime traditionally accompanying the warmer seasons, Senior Sergeant Danny Vincent said now was not the time for the public to become complacent.

"We're making it easier for our local offenders please, lock the doors, lock the windows, even while you're at home," he said.
