(HOUSTON, TX) The Harris County Sheriffs Office has launched a pilot home security review program in two northwest Harris County neighborhoods to help deter residential crimes in the area.

With the help of community leaders the HCSO developed the Home Security Survey Program in the Champion Forest and Copperfield subdivisions.

Residents in these communities can request an on-site review of their home by contacting the HCSOs Crime Prevention Office at (713) 759-9454, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. They should identify which of these two neighborhoods they live in and ask to schedule a Home Security Review.

The Home Security Reviews will be conducted by deputies and focus on making sure homes are as secure as possible in order to reduce their vulnerability of being an easy target for burglars. Once the deputy conducts the security survey, the homeowner will receive a yard sign with the HCSOs logo and Home Security Review on it, similar to those posted by security companies.

I have always said that we cant do our job alone, said Sheriff Adrian Garcia. If we all work together and are each others keeper then well greatly reduce our chances of becoming victims of crimes of opportunity, and thats what we hope to accomplish with this program.

The HCSO hopes to eventually expand the program to other neighborhoods throughout the unincorporated area of Harris County.
